Camgo staff was informative and helpful.
The attitude was relaxed and the price was affordable.

I've only just got around to writing a review for Camgo from our trip last November. Absolutely perfect. Camgo staff responded personally to all our emails before we booked, sent us information, and he was very friendly. When we arrived, we took a direct bus from Narita Airport right to the place where Camgo dropped our campervan off. We had a midsize campervan, a Toyota, for two of us. It was in perfect condition and drove really great. Camgo staff is as friendly in person as he is via email, and speaks perfect English! He quickly showed us around the van and handed us over the keys. What you will notice as a European renter is that there's no extortionate charge placed on your card for a deposit, Camgo staff just gave us the keys and off we went - really simple. The van took us from Tokyo, to Mt. Fuji, Nagoya, Kyoto, and along the North West coast all the way to Hiroshima and back. Never had any issues at all. Camgo staff gave us a tablet which doubles as wifi hotspot/internet connection on the tablet. It gives a complete list of all the parking spots in the whole of Japan, we used it every night, a great travel companion.
Perfect vehicle, host and hire, would recommend to anyone! Thank you everyone else at Camgo!

i rented a camper van from Camgo for about 3 weeks during cherry blossom season and drove almost 5000km. it gave me the possibility to get to see places which i would never have been able to see without the van or a car. it’s super easy and convenient to drive around in a camper van in Japan. if you avoid toll roads and avoid driving into major cities it won’t get too expensive either and i really enjoyed driving around countryside Japan. The Van itself was super comfy to sleep in and very well equipped. also i didn’t have any incident with it. pick up and return at Machida Station is also convenient. Camgo staff is a super nice guy and is providing you with everything you need before you start your trip. even during the trip he’s always trying to help if you have any questions. you’ll also get a tablet with free internet and some helpful apps for the lenght of your trip which is very helpful too. there are no hidden costs or anything else. i would definitely rent a Van from Camgo again.

We had an amazing experience with Camgo Campervan Rental! Camgo staff was so thorough with setting us up with our van. We drive around Japan for a month in a great vehicle, made possible by Camgo. Can't recommend this service enough. Affordable, quality van rentals!

User (New Zealand) : 30s / 2person / 4days (February)

The whole process of renting the mid sized camper was easy and quick. Camgo staff was great, he was very friendly and explained everything in great detail. The van came with a detailed guide book and a tablet which had GPS, wifi tethering and apps which showed you where rest stops and onsens were all around Japan. the guide booked had explanations of pretty much anything travel related you could ask for. They both were certainly was a life saver a couple of times. The camper itself was clean and tidy and was a perfect size for two. There were plenty of blankets and it was cozy even in below zero weather. I would highly recommend Camgo to anyone who wants to road trip around Japan.
Thank you very much!!

We rented a van for 3 weeks and drove over 5000km. Camgo staff was very kind and we could ask questions at any time during the trip. The bed was very comfortable and not too small for 2 people and the van was also very comfortable to drive. Next time we'll rent again a van from Camgo to explore the north of Japan.

User (UK) : 30s / 2person / 10days (July)

We had a lovely time in Japan with camgo campervan being prepared very well: The wifi and general setup of the provided tablet was extremely helpful, the van was in great condition and comfortable both driving and sleeping, the cooker was very powerful and we didn't need any additional camping gear because everything was provided. Camgo staff helped us before the holiday with translations and directions, gave us a complete information (in talk and paper) of driving and navigating Japan and when we returned the campervan he even helped us to get the right bus and train to our departure locations. We had a fantastic time and cannot recommend Camgo highly enough!

User (Italy) : 20s / 2person / 2weeks (July)

A great experience! Camgo staff was extremely helpful and kind. Even though on our 15 days trip we never had a single problem I am sure he would have been ready to help. He has a well drilled and personal yet professional way of renting the van that covers all the bases from camping gear to helping you out with basic travel tips etc (including a really handy portable internet tablet for travelling around). There are no hidden costs and the meet up and drop off in Machida was extremely convenient. Overall an excellent way to travel japan off the beaten track and great for reaching some of those more remote locations. The van was super well equipped comfy and ran well. If you stay off the toll roads travelling is pretty cheap, with plenty free rest stops, 24h convenience stores and onsens (hot springs) for showers and cleaning up. Japan is a perfect country for travelling around in a van. Thanks a lot Camgo team and I hope to travel through japan again with one of your vans, a great experience that i recommend to any and all

We went on our 3 week adventure trip in the mid-size Toyota van. Camgo staff set us up for it perfectly, he has been so helpful. Like some already mentioned, it is such a great experience being able to travel free from schedules and without the need to organise accommodation. After a day of hiking, visiting temples or sightseeing you just find yourself a nice parking spot and relax in the cosy van. The car otherwise is equipped with all you need to be autonomous at least for a couple of days. If you have time on your journey, avoid toll roads and you’ll more likely to find beautiful hidden places along the route. Domo arigatou gozaimasu Camgo, save travels!

Hello people. I rented a camper mid sized van for one entire month that i spend in Japan. In my opinion the freedom that gives you to go around and visit awsome places that you wouldnt be able to go without a car or van plus save money in hotels... its was just INCREDIBLE and AWSOME. if you are adventurous and want to move around freely from schedules and time tables its just the best option. The van is well equiped the price is quite good and if you have question or doubts Camgo staff is your man, hes is extremly helpful in any question or doubts you might have. Absolutely the best most authentic way to travel and experience Japan. The GPS makes it so easy and the roads are safe- just like typical Japan! There are numerous road stops to stay the night with everything you need. Camgo were so friendly and helpful and are so prompt and clear with communication. Camgo staff was amazing and has perfect English, he made us feel safe and secure. Thank you Camgo team! Hope to see you next time for Hokkaido!!

User (USA) : 30s / 1person / 2weeks (December)

I rented a mid-sized campervan to travel around Japan for 10 days in December and it was the perfect way for me to get around and save money. I parked each night in various Mich-no-ekis, ate breakfast every day at a different gourmet 7-11 and showered at onsens, found in just about any town. It was cold at night but I was given 3 heavy winter blankets and they were warm enough to only need 2 (except the last night up in the snowy mountains around Nagano, then 3 were needed, but still very comfortable. I loved traveling in Japan by campervan, and driving in Japan was very easy, thanks to the courteous and patient drivers in Japan and of course, the signs being in English and the GPS tablet and constant wifi in van. Just a great experience with Camgo Campervans and I never had a reason to call on them once I had the van.

My wife and I hired a mid-size car and travelled around 5 different prefectures in 3 weeks. Just in time for the autumn colours but not too cold. We visited many onsen towns and slept in the roadside service areas. We tried to stay off the toll roads. The small car was suitable for the narrow, Japanese roads but plenty of room for sleeping, I am 1.83m tall. The GPS and Wifi is essential for driving around. Never had a problem with the car and looked after it. Plenty of eating spots on the way. Fantastic way to see Japan, you don't have to carry around heavy luggage every day. Excellent service provided by Camgo team. Thank you again.

We had an amazing time travelling around Japan in our mid-sized campervan by Cam-go! The van was perfectly equipped and had everything we needed, and the service by Camgo team was impeccable! The car was great and camping is such a cool way to discover Japan. We slept at the most beautiful and magical places: along pristine rivers of Shikoku, in the Japanese Alps, on a lake with beautiful views of Mount Fuji and in really lovely forests and fields along the way - it was amazing!
Camgo team thanks again for the great service and much success with your business in the future!!

Camgo was very responsive throughout! The van and utensils included were in excellent condition (mid-size van, Toyota Noah). Had no trouble with the car whatsoever during a 45 days trip. Fouton was comfy (for Japanese standards), might be a little hard for westerners but was good for me. A few more horsepower would have been nice in some hilly areas.

My fiance and I left our booking request for campervan hire to the last minute, the night before our flight to Japan in fact(!), but we were fortunate to get a response from Camgo team almost straight away whilst the other 2 top listed Japan campervan hire companies didn't bother responding to our enquiry at all. Customer service goes a very long way so full marks there Camgo team :) Whilst we requested one of the smaller camper's on account of their apparent cuteness, only a medium sized van was available for our dates and Camgo team kindly offered this to us at a 10% discount, which we happily accepted. We communicated with Camgo team over our first 2 days in Tokyo to confirm the reservation for later in the week, which required a 30% deposit to be made via paypal. I was initially a bit apprehensive about this as I could not find many reviews on the website, however I appear to have completely overlooked the reviews here on the facebook page. This (mine) is a legitimate review as I am sure are all the others, and if I had read these first I would have had no apprehensions or hesitations around making the paypal deposit. In any case, as soon as I made the 30% deposit I received another confirmation email from Kimi, which put me at ease. The remaining 70% of the fee was available to be made by paypal before pickup, however I elected to bring cash with me on the day of pickup. Camgo team's email prior to pickup included directions on how to collect the van from Machida station, which was about 35km distance or 40 mins in public transport commuting from our accommodation in Harajuku. We found the meeting point within the station with ease based on Camgo team's instructions, and there he was waiting with the van and we quickly completed the inspection and paperwork nearby. I don't have much to add about the experience of the van itself that hasn't already been commented on. The medium sized van gave us ample room for a medium sized western couple to sleep together. We took the van from Tokyo to central Shikoku and back via Mt Fuji. We found it extremely easy to find free and legal places to park the van at night, and on some occasions gave us close proximity to pay for a shower or go to an onsen. We didn't do any cooking given the affordable and good quality food you can buy from the road stops and convenience stores along the way. At most I think we boiled some water to add to some dried noodles, and only discovered the arms chairs later in the trip. My final advice is to any future campervan hire travellers is to avoid the tollroads to the extent your timeline and wallet allows. We got stung something in the region of $300-$400 from Tokyo to Tokushima, which was a long one stint drive and touched a few different toll roads. It served our purpose for getting to our end point quickly, but was higher than our already high expectations had anticipated. For some reason our return drive was longer, we left Shikoku north via Kagawa and took toll roads all the way to Tokyo via Mt Fuji but it only costed us perhaps half the first leg of the trip or $150-$200.

It took a while but thanks again Camgo team. Our trip was awesome and having your van for that first part was even better. Being able to see all those villages in the middle of Japan was just great. We would definitely do it again, it opens so much more possibilities than just going by trains/buses. And that's also thanks to all the 道の駅! Next time, we will definitely go back on the roads with you guys! Cheers Camgo team!

Wow! What an awesome way to experience Japan. Camgo team were super easy to deal with and made the start of our Japan road trip easy. The van we rented was great. Plenty of room to throw a few surfboards in the back. We travelled with a 2 year old and the van was ideal. We only camped in it a few nights and drove between accommodations. Days at the beach we great with the room in the back of the van, laid down the seats from time to time for our arvo siestas. Best way to see Japan, stop where you want when you want. Highly Recommended!! Thanks Camgo team!!

We had a great experience with Camgo team and the campervan. I booked a long way in advance and paid a deposit then, which made me nervous since it was a lot of money far in advance, but Camgo team reassured me and answered all my questions. The campervan was great, it has so many useful features, like wifi, a tablet which you can look up all the free sleeping spots and wifi, a second battery so you can use a fan in the night and charge things, mosquito nets for the windows in the night. It was a great experience. And having unlimited kms is great!!! Thank you very much for a great trip Camgo team! I'd definitely use this company again!!

My fiance and I recently travelled by campervan around Japan for one month. It was an incredible experience and one we will remember with very fond memories! By camper is the way to travel if you want to see and experience unique parts of Japan. It's also very cost effective. In regards to Camgo, we highly recommend this business. We did a lot of research before coming to Japan, Camgo is the cheapest company and the service provided is top notch! Camgo team has done much camper travel abroad and understands the camper experience. His vans are fitted out with everything to make your journey comfortable including very nifty applications that help you to find your way including to Onsens and free rest areas. Kimi speaks excellent English and we even contacted him with help speaking to local Japanese people who did not understand English! He is extremely prompt and kind with customer service. In short, look not further in your search for a car or camper, Camgo is your company! Thanks so much Camgo team!!

Had a great 3 week tour around Japan in the Camgo Campervan. Camgo team was a very helpful communicator so we did 3000 kms without a problem. I highly recommend Camgo to anyone wishing to get off the expressways and explore the countryside and all it has to offer. We had a seamless pickup and drop off with Camgo team showing up on time...his most agreeable manner made the whole experience one we will certainly remember with affection. Thank you so much Camgo team...your 2 Austalian friends.

Did one week in a Camgo van and absolutely loved it. Japan is a great place to see by campervan. You have free sleeping spots, onsens for showers and courteous fellow drivers. The van itself was super practical (you don't want anything bigger with the narrow roads around japan) with built in deep cycle battery (for charging at night), all sorts of cooking gear and a good sized bed (im 2 m tall). On top of that Kimi was great, super quick to respond to emails and always friendly with many suggestions. Camgo gets my warmest recommendations. Arigato!

We traveled Japan with a Campervan from Tokyo to Osaka in 15 days. Japan is a great country to travel by camper if you are looking for a 'off the beaten path' tour. If you're not native Japanese make sure you book the wifi provided by Camgo team, absolutely unmissable for tracking down campsites, restaurants and driving directions. Camgo team is a great guy. You can definitely rent a campervan with him, ask him for tips and the 1 week and 2 week example route so you don't miss out on any highlights.

We recently returned home from Japan where we rented a CamGo Campervan for 11 days. It was one of our most treasured holiday experiences. Camgo team was always quick to respond to any questions and was full of suggestions, often sending links to helpful apps/websites to help us on our journey. The Nissan Serena mid-size camper was clean, comfortable, roomy, fully equipped and ran well. Not only were free extras included (GPS, cooking equipment, table, chairs), Camgo team has put together a folder with information on traffic rules, traffic signals, michi no ekis, maps, and reviews on helpful shops/restaurants you see along the roadside. Our Bible during the trip! My husband and I highly recommend CamGo. After a bad experience with another Japanese Camper Company, CamGo saved the day and did so with a friendly smile. Thank you so much Camgo team! Can't wait to visit again next year!
